Leachate is wastewater generated from the moisture naturally present in landfill waste and from rainwater and snowmelt that percolates through the waste and underlying soil layers. It contains high concentrations of suspended solids as well as organic and inorganic compounds. In 2011, China’s leachate treatment market was valued at just RMB 1.176 billion; by 2021, this figure had grown to RMB 5.52 billion, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 16.72% over the period. The market is expected to continue expanding at a robust pace in the years ahead.
