Application Cases in the New Energy Industry
As the “dual carbon” strategy gains full momentum, the development of new‑energy vehicles and research into power batteries have attracted widespread attention, driving a corresponding surge in demand for battery materials. Among these, cathode materials—by far the largest category of raw materials in power batteries—have seen rapid growth in shipments, fueled by the expansion of the new‑energy vehicle market. Global demand for cathode materials is projected to reach 600,000 tonnes in 2021 and could exceed 2.15 million tonnes by 2025. Meanwhile, electric vehicles, as the largest downstream application segment for lithium batteries, account for more than 60% of total lithium‑battery consumption. This year, global lithium‑battery consumption for electric vehicles is expected to total 310 GWh, translating into an estimated demand for cathode materials of approximately 604,000 tonnes.
